Matthew Lyon was accused and found guilty of expressing sedition with bad intent. He was sentenced to four months in jail and to pay a fine and pay court costs. The community hailed him as a hero because he ran a congress campaign from his cell and won. He got pardoned and got out.
Thomas Cooper was charged with having published a false and malicious libel against the president of the United States. He was found guilty and charged. He fined $400, sentenced to 6 months in prison, and at the end of that period, to find bonds for his good behavior, a thousand from himself, and two bonds in five hundred dollars each from others
What about the community
doesnt rly say huh
Nope, you could add that he became a president of a college though.
ok
Thats you.
That is an opinion based question.

Id say yes
Who was treated fairly?
all?
yea pretty much cuz all of their endings are good
ya
Who was not treated fairly?
Zlich
yea
. What about Thomas Cooper, the recent immigrant from England. Do you think he had the same rights as the others, who were citizens? Why or why not?
Yes, if he immigrated from England and became a citizen
why tho
If you come to the united states and become a itizen you follow the same rules
As long as ur in the US you follow the US laws
What does the communities view of Matthew Lyons (reelected to Congress) & Thomas Cooper (College professor & College president) demonstrate about the peoples’ views of the Sedition Acts?
Well, depends. It shows that people are accepting of certain law breakers. Usually they don't mind them.
. Do you think the Sedition Acts were constitutional or unconstitutional, explain why.
They are constitutional because no one should be able to smear the US government. Free speech can only go so far. Hate speech and speech like that should be taken into consideration about legal or non legal.
Talking crap about the government is ok, but trying to block them from doing their job or attempting to smear them is a different story.,
