Weather and History Collaboration Product/Project Directions: Please complete the assignment below and submit your work as your Collaboration Product/Project. Contact your teacher with questions. Step 1: Choose a historical event that was greatly impacted by the weather (not discussed in the live lesson) from the list below: • Kamikaze (divine wind) – typhoons that stopped Mongol invasions of Japan in 1274 and 1281. • Battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812 – fog lifted at just the right moment to expose a surprise British attack. • D-Day, June 6, 1944 – weather related delays and issues. • Battle of the Bulge, December 1944 – snow and cloud cover allowed the Germans to initiate a surprise attack that almost turned the tide of the war. The weather cleared just in time for General Patton to defeat the Nazi plan. • Other- please check with your teacher to get approval of another event. Normandy, or D-Day was apart of World War 2. This battle was important to the World War because it was going to allow the allies to invade continental Europe, which would eventually lead to the Allies winning the war. The Allies had a good amount of confidence placed into this battle, the allies needed to win this battle to defeat Nazi Germany.
*Three paragraphs ._.

The weather was horrible during this event. They wanted to do it during a full moon so the tide wasn't too low. However, meteorologists were predicting horrible weather on the 4th so, Eisenhower postponed D-Day for 24 hours. The weather made this event hard to plan and execute. However, supposedly, the weather was good on the actual day of the event. There was sunny skies, and some wind. The water was reported to be 59 degrees.
Which allowed for the troops to not be slow in the muddy beaches, allowed the troops to have better visibility, however that also meant that the Germans also had better visibility.
The historical impact of this event was very great. This battle was the battle to let the allies win the war. IF the allies hadn't won, we probably would have lost the war. Winning D-Day let the Allies, get further into Europe, as Normandy Beaches were the first point to capture, so they could get their forces into Europe.
There that wasnt soo hard now you got a horse emote out of it e.e
