How might similarities and differences in genetic codes, or the proteins built as a result of these codes, be used to determine how closely related different species are? @JustSaiyan

JustSaiyan:

The genetic code is the code that makes each organism what it is, meaning any major differences suggest that the code is of a difference species or in other words, of decent of a different organism, and and slight differences could simply mean it is of another breed. However, similar genetic code will show relations in organisms, suggesting they are from the same organism, having the genes passed down through reproduction. If the code is EXACTLY the same, it was passed down via cloning.
