Can someone please help? Thank you.
How does the ability of the Supreme Court to interpret a law affect the U.S. government? A. It prevents the legislative and executive branches from passing laws that are unconstitutional. B. It provides the legislative branch with an important check on the power of the executive branch. C. It gives equal power to the court systems at the federal and state levels. D.It allows the president to pass legislation that he or she determines is most important.
Not sure... but my best guess is A or B
@dude
well the supreme court is basically the final say in the passing of the law...
I know that but not sure what answer choice gives the description
Can anyone please help me?
B is incorrect since the Supreme Court is the judicial branch, not the legislative branch. In this case, I don't believe the "Supreme Court" refers to the state levels, so I would exclude C. Lastly, the power of the Supreme Court to interpret laws does not prevent the president (head of the executive branch) from passing laws given to him by Congress. However, they can deem actions done by the President as unconstitutional. Also, they can tell Congress that a law that they passed violates the U.S. Constitution and declare that it is no longer a law.
So... A?
By extension of being able to deem actions done by the President as unconstitutional, they can prevent the President from passing unconstitutional laws.
I will not give you a direct answer, but I will give you the resources to make the best possible decision :)
Not giving me the answer ;) I'm asking you to verify my thoughts
But obviously I read your replies and I think A is the correct choice. Thank you ^.^
