EclipsedStar:

Trench warfare was essentially the digging of pits during war times such as World War 1. The soldiers would hide in these pits and shoot anyone that would come out. Now as these trenches were essentially just dirt pits, when it rained the water would accumulate but the soldiers could not go out or risk being shot. So this is where trench foot comes from, where diseases spread and bacteria went rampant. Even having just a simple wound could have a risk of being infected and many died due to this. I'm not sure what your question is asking, but trench foot, along with its casualties, is a valid point that did exist.
