oh, right, since they only give you the base + height of one triangle, you just multiply it by the # of triangles for example, in that first one you have 3 triangles, so multiply (1/2)(bh) by 3

i think so. so you fill the circle with other more linear shapes and you get to calculate pi that's how Newton did it. so i believe
