Quick Unit Conversion Question

Vocaloid:

I found this solution to a hw problem and I have no idea where they got that J to cm^(-1) conversion factor @sillybilly123

sillybilly123:

they're using inverse of wavelength as a proxy for energy So \(E = h f = h \dfrac{c}{\lambda}\) and, because h and c are constants, you then have: \(\dfrac{E} {hc} = \dfrac{1}{\lambda}\) all ties in with the actual values of those constants in your calculation
