How do the full valence shells of the elements in the far right column of the periodic table affect how they react and take part in chemical bonding?

Since they are the farthest away they are having the least attractive force from the nucleus. Hence these electrons are more reactive, ie the can easily be pulled out from their orbits for a reaction.
