Whats the question? :P

Warriorz13:

(5x^2/3y) / (6y^2/8x)

@Allison

BenLindquist:

u need help with exactly what

TheSmartOne:

Use these properties and simplify it

Warriorz13:

That is not helping....

Tranquility:

Do you understand that when you're dividing two fractions, if you take the reciprocal of the second fraction then you can multiply both fractions?

Warriorz13:

Please elaborate

Tranquility:

a/b \(\div\) c/d = a/b * d/c

Tranquility:

Do that for your question. And then use the exponent properties that @TheSmartOne wrote.

Warriorz13:

So I divide 3 by 5 and divide -5 by 12

Tranquility:

Not sure where you got those numbers from Write it all out. Don't lose your variables (the x and y's)

Warriorz13:

I messed up, looked at the wrong problem, lemme repost, I’m on iPad so it’s hard to do equations

Warriorz13:

\[\frac{ 5x^2 }{ 3y } \frac{ 6y^2 }{ 8x }\]

Warriorz13:

My multiplication sign disappeared, but multiply the two factions and that’s my problem.

Tranquility:

Is that the original question? It has a multiplication sign?

Warriorz13:

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @Warriorz13 \[\frac{ 5x^2 }{ 3y }* \frac{ 6y^2 }{ 8x }\] \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\)

Warriorz13:

Fixed it :0 and yes ma’am, or sir. IDK e,e

Tranquility:

Sir. You have x^2 in the numerator. And x in the denominator. x^2 = x*x So what is (x*x)/x = ?

Tranquility:

And similarly, you have y^2/y which is very similar to the x^2/x, except it's just a different variable (letter)

Tranquility:

It's like asking you what is (2*2)/2 = ? Apply the same concept.

Warriorz13:

I’m following (I think;

Tranquility:

So what is x^2/x

Warriorz13:

Would that just be x?

Tranquility:

Exactly. And this is where you can understand the concept x^a / x^b = x^(a-b) Because if you write it out, some of thehe stuff in the denominator would cancel out stuff in the numerator. But now for your question you know now that you have x and y in the numerator. Just simplify the numbers. (5*6)/(3*8) = ?

Warriorz13:

30/24 in fraction form is 1 6/24 or 1 3/12 or 1 1/4

Tranquility:

1 1/4 is good but let's keep it in improper form (5xy)/4 would be your final answer

Warriorz13:

Explain please

Warriorz13:

That is a answer choice for em, I just wanna know how you got it

TheSmartOne:

What exactly do you still not understand? He walked you through it kinda
