Jethro wants a swimming pool in his backyard, so he digs a rectangular hole with dimensions 40 feet long, 20 feet wide, and 5 feet deep. How many cubic feet of water will the pool hold? A) 65 cubic feet of water B) 8000 cubic feet of water C) 4000 cubic feet of water D) 40,000 cubic feet of water

daDreamersHERE:

ok. so the answers c. thats because you want to find the volume of something. the formula for the volume of something is length times width times height. in this case the length is 40, the height is 5 and the width is 20. then you just multiply all of them. sooo...i got 4000.

As @daDreamersHERE said, the volume of an object is it's length multiplied by it's width, multiplied by it's height \[V = l \times w \times h\] \[V = 40 \times 20 \times 5 = 4000 ft^3\]
