Mandarin question: just want to confirm something - Translating the sentences "Mr. wang doesn't have any sons, what about Mr. Li" the second part would be Li xian sheng ne? right? (not ma?)
Okay, from what I've learned in class (because somehow I was not raised with this knowledge smh): the ending "...ma?" is used in phrases such as "ni hao ma" "shui hao jiao le ma" (did you sleep well?) "ni chuan de shi hong se ma?" (are you wearing red?) etc etc but if you use "...ne?" it is usually something related to status, I think -- ?? let me verify this
...it seems to be related to present status, or ongoing status, like the one in your sentence (Mr. Li's status of having children or not)?? All the examples I tried to come up with just now ended in "...ma" lol
alright thanks
It also seems to be appended at the end of sentences, since that part about Mr. Li came after the part about Mr. Wang but idk because we tend to use "...ma?" more lol
