just wanna confirm something in Mandarin: when talking about the year 2XXX we use er not liang? @angle
I saw this anyway LOL
I mean if you want to edit it later ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
uh well since you're already here do you know whether its liang or er? i've seen both ways but just wanna know if there's one thats more common/natural than the other
两个人 第二个
year: 2008 is 二零零八
alright thank you just checking
liang is used for a number of physical objects like "I have two pens" = "wo you liang ge bi" you would not say "wo you er ge bi" for number numbers (i.e. not physical objects) such as with dates and years, you would use "er" like year 2006 = "er ling ling liu nian" a good rule of thumb would be that if the "number" is followed by a measure word, you should be using "liang" if there are two
oh i asked and apparently they can use the other one: 2010 = 两千一零年 it's rare though... i've never heard that before rip overall -- i guess that most people would use the more "standard" 二零一零
