a bunch of questions, checking response grammar
Not all of these are translations, btw. Some are just context info 1. (it's asking what day is Gao Wenzhong's birthday, which is Thursday, September 12th) 2. 还有谁?(The people going with Bai Ying-ai and Gao Wenzhong are Wang Peng and Li You) 3. 白英爱为什么请同学们吃饭?(It's asking why Bai Ying-ai is inviting classmates to eat food) 4. 高文中喜欢吃什么菜?(Gao Wenzhong likes to eat Chinese food) 5. (They will meet at 7 pm Thursday night) 6. 王鹏星期四不忙,可是今天呢?(Today Wang Peng is busy/has thing(s) to do.) 7. 谁是李友?(Yes, Wang Peng knows Li You. She is his friend.) 8. 今天晚上几点钟王朋有事?(Wang Peng has something to do at 6 and 1 quarter, or 6:15) 9. (asks your birthday date and if anyone has invited you to eat)
(should I be repeating "李友是王鹏的..." ?? My mom keeps yelling at me to respond in the exact same format as the question smh) 8. (Should I put the 王鹏 somewhere else? It doesn't look right...)
Lol I think we’re both using integrated Chinese Anyway for 2) shouldn’t it be 什么 not 社? couldbewrongonthis
Oh are you doing traditional?
omg --
Well that was weird. It did a typo
I was in the middle of class rip
Nah, you're right :p
2. it is really weird to include "还有王朋和李友" as an afterthought structurally something more like Na tian wan shang, Bai Ying-ai he Gao Wenzhong gen Wang Peng he Li You chi fan le. (where "le" represents the past tense)
3. you never start a sentence with Because, it's like starting an english sentence with And or But. so you would have to repeat the prompt in statement form + the answer: Bai ying ai qing tong xue men chi fan, yin wei jin tian shi gao wen zhong de sheng ri.
Yeah, I thought so too about the 还是 but parent was like "Yeah! Follow what the question is telling you" (honestly I don't get it. I'm pretty sure I can use 他 in response when the question mentions the guy by name...)
oh, we can't use 跟 yet, we didn't learn it I mean, I know what it means but
have you learned "yi qi" like "together"?
Na tian wan shang, Bai Ying-ai, Gao Wenzhong, Wang Peng he Li You yi qi chi fan.
sorry about my excessive use of ping yin.... the truth is that I can't read or write characters x'D
7. is good as "王朋认识李友。她是王朋的朋友."
8. yes you should use "yi ke" rather than "shi wu fen" to represent the ":15" and the characters "you shi" at the end are wrong. the grammar is correct though
Ah, okay! Sorry about any confusion then. Can I do something like "na tian wan shang, Bai Ying-ai, Gao Wenzhong, hai you Wang Peng he Li You chi fan" ?
omg I hate typing in Chinese online for this reason ;-;
I feel like you should keep the people in their friend pairs in that case so na tian wan shang, Bai Ying-ai he Gao Wenzhong hai you Wang Peng he Li You chi fan le.
OOH Yeah that makes a lot more sense, ty <3
also I should probably tell you that when using the oxford comma in chinese, they prefer this punctuation mark "、" rather than the typical comma "," oxford comma meaning the comma used when listed three or more things
I did notice that but nobody uses it, so I neglected to include it x'D
:shrugs: proper grammar and all that if you ever have to google it, it's called the "dun hao"
THAT is the dun hao? welp
ok so 3) is "Bai Ying-ai qing tong xue chi fan yin wei ..." etc?
yup! "Bai ying ai qing tong xue men chi fan, yin wei jin tian shi gao wen zhong de sheng ri."
I think it was "ming tian" but I forget makes note to check actual text
ok I'm so glad I didn't turn this in today, all these lil grammar issues am salty
Anywaaaay. THANK YOU. You're awesome iggle ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
make sure you double check the characters for everything, I only pointed out the thing in number 8 because I only know the very basic characters >,< that is to say that I didn't check whether or not any of your other characters were the correct versions
oh the characters are definitely because I didn't check when typing lol I know to write the correct ones :p
Oops sorry, it looks like #2 was "Bai Ying-ai inviting A, B and C to eat" as context, so it should be "Bai Ying-ai qing A chi fan, ta hai qing B he C chi fan" (idk if the "chi fan" in the second part should be included though -- if not then it would probably end as "ta hai qing le B he C")
(I should post an updated version of these answers later lol)
