Why are simple shapes used to detect collision in many games, including the car example in Unity? In what kind of games might it be “worth” integrating more complicated geometry for collision detection?
Kinda confused on this question.....are there any choices or is this just a want-to-know question?
no there were no choices
Ok. Kai, i hope you got this. XD
i believe most games would use more basic shapes like rectangular prisms or cubes because 1 they can be narrowed down to several parts of the object and 2 they are more affordable that making the colliders the exact shape and size of EACH object in the game
kai my life is in ur hands
this would especially be true for open world type of games
ok
I play a lot of open world games and yeah they commonly do stuff like that e.e
ok
lots of open space means you need to trim down details sometimes for overall quality but if you have an uneven set of each it can ruin the game
