zarkam21:

Are the following intensive and extensive properties? Volume Density

Vocaloid:

any ideas? extensive = depends on the amount of substance present intensive = always the same regardless of amount

Vocaloid:

well, let's think of an easy example if we have, say, x amount of water, and we double the amount, which one changes? volume, density, both, neither?

Vocaloid:

well, a basic definition of volume is basically the amount of space it takes up, right? so doubling the amount doubles the volume making volume an extensive property any thoughts on density?

zarkam21:

intensive?

Vocaloid:

good since doubling the amount also doubles the mass and volume, density remains the same and is intensive
