A combined circuit has two resistors in series (27.5 ohms and 33.0 ohms) and another in parallel (22.0 ohms). If the power source is 9.0 volts, what will the current be? A. 0.062 amps B. 16 amps C. 0.56 amps D. 0.32 amps E. 39 amps

Nnesha:

alright so first draw the diagram. It is very "important" to know how to place a resistor in series or parallel. |dw:1576197888027:dw| R1 and R2 are in series. The first step is to combine these two resistors \[R_T=R_1+R_2=27.5+33=60.5\Omega \]

Nnesha:

|dw:1576198211223:dw| Rnew which is 60.5 and R2 are in parallel so \[R_{T}=\frac{ 1 }{ \frac{1}{60.5}+\frac{1}{22} }=16.1 \Omega\]|dw:1576198488822:dw|

Nnesha:

To find current, subsitute V=9 , Rt= 16.1 \[\rm I=\frac{V}{R_T}\]
