I need help
2(m-4) + 1 you need to distribute the 2 into the parentheses. so 2(m) and 2(-4) then you need to take that anwer and add 1 to it. so if you have 2(m)+ 2(-4) + 1 you get what?
Im so confused
with which part ?
Emily u first solve inside the parenthesis
no, you must distribute into the parentheses, bc you can not do m-4
so I do m-4
Oh yeah thats the first step sorry ur right Mxddi
\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @EmilyGrace1 so I do m-4 \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) no you have to multiply m-4 x 2
what's 2*m and 2* (-4)
ok so would it be 8
well 2(-4) is NEGATIVE 8, yes. but what is -8+1
-9
no, try this, what is 1-8
-7
Yes
yes. and now, again, what is 2(m) ?
what do I do with negative 7
i'm gonna get there. you need to answer what 2(m) is first
Im sry im really don't get math
Its good I wasnt rlly good at math and I'm not really but I trry and do my best with High School Math
is it -2
since the 2 doesn't have a negative sign, it's just positive 2, but you need to attach the variable to it. all you need to do is put the number in front of the variable.....
2m
yes. now you remember the -7? all you do is put it after your 2m. since there is no variable on the -7 it is called you Constant. The constant goes after the term(s) with variables.
Now put 2m and -7 together and you get what
2m - -7
remove 1 of the -
you just need one minus sign, it is with the 7.
since -7 is already a negative you dont need to add another - since it goes behind the 2m so the answer will be what?
oh ok
thank you both
