There are a lot out there but it depends on what you're trying to do! Are you trying to do still life? Buildings? Do you want to add value and what type of medium are you drawing with/on?

That's fine! Well some techniques for charcoal is to also include white charcoal to add some more value, especially when you mess up in some places and can't exactly erase it. And I would recommend using a kneaded eraser for picking up some pigment (not all) to lighten up areas. I know that is one of my challenges when using charcoal is making everything too dark, because it is such a dark tool, you know?

For pencil, use different shading techniques for different parts of the drawing. You want to use cross hatching, hatching, and circling methods depending on what look you want to get. Also, look into other types of shading like contour shading too, that'll help with more intricate parts like wrinkles

You don't want to always stick with one type of shading method, unless you are going for a particular look
