carmelle:

√ (x+2) + 3 = 0 Is the answer: x = -11 I did this on my own, can someone confirm please :)

Mercury:

sorry, not quite. notice how if you subtract 3 from both sides you get sqrt(x+2) = -3 can the square root of something be negative? (ignoring imaginary numbers here for a sec)

Mercury:

good, so this doesn't have any real solution x by any chance - have you learned about imaginary numbers yet? (a.k.a numbers with "i" in it? I'm just seeing if we need to find imaginary solutions)

Mercury:

oh ok cool, that's fine. then it's ok to say "no real solutions"

carmelle:

ok thx
