What is the main purpose of this excerpt from A Child’s History of England by Charles Sandwichens? The whole country [England] was covered with forests, and swamps. The greater part of it was very misty and cold. There were no roads, no bridges, no streets, no houses that you would think deserving of the name. A town was nothing but a collection of straw-covered huts, hidden in a thick wood, with a ditch all round, and a low wall, made of mud, or the trunks of trees placed one upon another. The people planted little or no corn, but lived upon the flesh of their flocks and cattle. They made no coins, but used metal rings for money. They were clever in basket-work, as savage people often are; and they could make a coarse kind of cloth, and some very bad earthenware. But in building fortresses they were much more clever. A. to inform B. to instruct C. to express D. to entertain E. to persuade

i tink
So this one is super tricky. This book was meant for children and was meant to teach them about the history of England, but in a way that children can understand. So yes, one of the purposes of this is to be entertaining so the children reading won't get bored or side tracked, however, that is not the main purpose of this!!!
So you are half way right! Since this is trying to teach children about the history of England, what would be the actual main purpose?
if not d than E
Nope, it is not to persuade!! To persuade means to convince someone to do something. Charles Dic kens isn't trying to persuade the kids of the history of england!
omg so hard
Yeah, it is super tricky!! He is simply trying to inform the children about the history of england!
