What, if any, variations from the standard English pronunciation or accent do you hear in samples from your regional dialect? Does your family share the dialect of the speakers from your region?
My family’s accent is different from that of most speakers from my region. The speakers from my region sound very similar to the people in my neighborhood. It was difficult to identify variations from standard English in my own region’s dialect. My region’s dialect is distinct, and I could identify variations in pronunciation and accent.
An example of differences in dialect could be like when someone from the south moves up north and there is going to be a noticeable southern draw in their speaking. For me personally, seeing as my mom grew up in the south and my dad grew up in Hawaii, we sound slightly different from the people around us. Examples of variations in traditional dialect compared to regional dialect could be the way people say "water" or "creek". Another difference seen frequently is whether a person says "soda", "pop" or just "coke" there are some maps when u click this link that will show u examples of the different ways people from certain regions pronounce certain things. https://visualizingsystems.com/cultural-systems/beyond-soda-pop-or-coke-regional-dialect-variation-in-the-continental-us-joshua-katz/
