So you're graphing it or saying if it's parallel or perpendicular?

Saying if it's parallel or perpendicular
darkknight:
very easy way to do this is to solve both eqns for y, then if the slope is a negative reciprocal then the lines are perpendicular and if slope is the same then the lines are parallel

DK4L:
But wouldn't 12 be neither?
DK4L:
their slopes are not the same and not opposite reciprocals
Joe2019:
Riverdale!!
darkknight:
first line has slope of -2
darkknight:
2y = x-3
y = 1/2x - 3/2
1/2 and -2 are opposite reciprocals (for 12)

Thx!
darkknight:
now try 13
mdobbs6856:
Is it parallel?
darkknight:
-3y = x+6
so
y = -1/3x-2
that is the slope for the second one (for 13)
darkknight:
you tell me, if slope is opposite reciprocals is it parallel or perpendicular?
