dgreer4:

Describe Kohlberg’s three stages of moral development. How do Jonathan Haidt’s views differ from Kohlberg’s?

dontsaymyname:

Any answer choices?

dgreer4:

No this is a type of short answer essay question

dgreer4:

I'm confused which is y I posted it

dontsaymyname:

Okay, so do you know who the two individuals mentioned are?

TETSXPREME:

she prolly read a book or paragraph

dgreer4:

he developed the stages of moral development and believed that individuals progress through stages of moral development just as they progress through stages of cognitive development.

dgreer4:

that one was Kohlberg's and I'mma typing the other one.

dontsaymyname:

Good job, and to sum that up, Kohlberg's stages were 1) preconventional morality 2) conventional morality 3) postconventional morality and what were Jonathans?

dgreer4:

Well, he believed that much of our morality is rooted in our moral intuitions. That the mind makes moral judgments as it makes aesthetic judgments very quickly and automatically. I think that should be included. Right?

dontsaymyname:

Exactly, so now we just need to find differences

dontsaymyname:

1) people see rules as fixed and absolute. 2) the second stage of moral development, and is characterized by an acceptance of social rules concerning right and wrong 3) characterized by an individuals' understanding of universal ethical principles

dontsaymyname:

those are Kohlberg’s

dgreer4:

here's one thing I forgot to add. Lawrence Kohlberg focused on moral reasoning and the way people think about moral situations, whereas Jonathan Haidt focused on moral intuition and the way people feel about moral situations.

dontsaymyname:

I like it

dgreer4:

So would that sum it all up?

dgreer4:

I'm pretty sure

dontsaymyname:

I think so,

dgreer4:

yeah hey thxs JJ

dontsaymyname:
