why does the earth rotate
Gravity I think,
well there is no proof that the earth rotates
^
What if the earth isn't rotating and whatever is around the earth is whats really rotating
\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @Laylalyssa well there is no proof that the earth rotates \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) then how does it spin
how do you know it's spinning ?
"The Earth keeps spinning because it was born spinning," Luhman said.
so it was given birth ?
idk
Since gravity pulls inward from all directions equally, the amorphous clump, if massive enough, will eventually become a round planet. Inertia then keeps that planet spinning on its axis unless something occurs to disturb it. "The Earth keeps spinning because it was born spinning," Luhman said. Also they thik the earth was made from other planets/stuff smashing into eachother and gravity

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @supie Gravity I think, \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) can u elaborate?

When Galileo pointed his telescope into the night sky in 1610, he saw for the first time in human history that moons orbited Jupiter. If Aristotle were right about all things orbiting Earth, then these moons could not exist. Galileo also observed the phases of Venus, which proved that the planet orbits the Sun.

Formation. When the solar system settled into its current layout about 4.5 billion years ago, Earth formed when gravity pulled swirling gas and dust in to become the third planet from the Sun. Like its fellow terrestrial planets, Earth has a central core, a rocky mantle and a solid crust.
