Mercury:

Problem a) notice how both triangles have the same two angle measures 50 and 60 degrees. Since all three angles in all triangles must add up to 180, what must the third angle be? And what does that tell you about the triangle similarity ? (If you are stuck : look up AA similarity theorem)

lazytaz:

would it be 70°? If i add up the two angles 50 and 60 which gives me 110 then subtract it from 180 gives me 70° is this correct?

Mercury:

Yes Now, what does this tell us? Because we knew two angles in each triangle, we automatically know the third angle is just 180 - the other two angles Both triangles have the same two angle measures, so they have the same third angle, and thus all equal angles. Triangles that share all three angles are similar. We call this the AA similarity theorem. The two triangles are similar via AA similarity.
