Sam Houston was a big supporter and key player in the annexation of Texas by the United States. The annexation of Texas was basically Texas becoming a state in the United States. On December 29th, 1845, Texas became the 28th state in the Union. Since all the acts Sam Houston did were more or less for Texas, we can cross out A and C since those have nothing to do with Texas in particular, instead they involve the entire US Government. Now we have B and D. In 1823, Sam Houston ran as a representative of the state of Tennessee, however, he never ran for a representative of Texas. So we can cross out B. Which leaves the only possible answer as D, a Senator from Texas, which happens to be our answer.
