tooke2boujee:

which algebraic expression is a polynomial

Timmyspu:

Do you have any answer choices and welcome to question cove if you need any help dont be afraid to ask.

draebrewer:

they are algebraic expressions that consist of terms in the form axn a x n where n is a non-negative

draebrewer:

may i get best response

tooke2boujee:

A. 3m^2n - 2m/n + 1/n B. 2mn/5 - m2/4 + 4m^5 C. 4m^3/n^2 - 3mn^5 + sq8 D. 7mn + 3m/2 + 5n/4

mxddi3:

well, it's not a polynomial if there is a negative exponent, variable exponent, a variable in the denominator, or no square roots of variable. Examples: `negative exponent`: \[f(x)=2x^-3+4x-7\] `variable exponent`: \[f(x)=4^x\] `variable denominator`:\[f(x)=2x^2-\frac{ 7 }{ x }+4\] `square roots`: \[f(x)= \sqrt{x}\] this also shows you: https://www.purplemath.com/modules/polydefs.htm Now, from your answer choices, we can get rid of A because there are variables as the denominator. Then we can also get rid of c because of the sq8, which is not allowed, as i said above. So then, from B and D, which do you think is correct? It may help is you use the `Equation` feature and actually write the two options out so you can see it better.

tooke2boujee:

D

mxddi3:

i'd agree with you there. do you understand why it is D?
