I need help again- Nd yes this is math . It's apart of my geometry class.
If your statement is `If p , then q ` The converse would be `If q , then p` And the inverse would be `If not p , then not q ` And the contrapositive would be `If not q , then not p `
So we have `If I win, then you don't lose` What is the converse, inverse, and contrapositive?
And then ask yourself if that statement makes any sense. If it does, then it's true. If it doesn't, then it's false
for converse i got "if you win, then i don't lose"
no no no
you don't change the words from I to you
idk man-
you flip around the order
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
you don't lose if I win
so if i don't lose, then you win ?
yes
so if you don't lose then I win
\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @idekanymore14 so if i don't lose, then you win ? \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) no, stop changing I and you
i didn't- i changed don't lose nd win ....
so if you don't lose, then i win ?
the sentence is IF I WIN, THEN YOU DON'T LOSE
right
we switch it so it's going to be if YOU DON'T LOSE, then I WIN
k then
Do you see?? We went from If P then Q to the converse which is If Q, then P
Yu jus said not to switxh i and you tho-
buddy
you have to switch the PHRASES
not just one word
ohhhhhhhhhh
ye i gotxhu now
\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @AZ If your statement is `If p , then q ` The converse would be `If q , then p` And the inverse would be `If not p , then not q ` And the contrapositive would be `If not q , then not p ` \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) now, can you do the inverse?
Just add the word `not` in front of the original sentence in the question
we can fix the English/Grammar of it afterwards
so inverse would be "if i don't win then you don't lose." ??
almost, but you forgot about the `not` in the second half so it would be you don't don't lose which is a double negative so it cancels out
make sense?
so "if i don't win, then you lose." ?
You got it!
Now for contrapositive If not q , then not p just flip the order you say it in
ok ok so contra. would be "if you don't lose, then i win." ?
no that's the the converse to make it the contrapositive, add `not` in front of both phrases in this: "if you don't lose, then I win"
ok ok so "if you lose , then I don't win." ?
There you go!
Now does the phrase even make sense If I tell you I won so you didn't lose if it makes sense, then it's true otherwise, it's false
Thank you soooo much . I really appreciate your help, but can we do the next one just to be safe ?
Yes.
I guess it makes sense if we're on the same team it's a weird sentence anyway haha
nvm i got what yu meant .
nvm i got what yu meant .
Do you want to get started on the next one?
