Do you know the shifts of a parabola, and what changes?

lilbaddieeeeee:

not very well

Laylalyssa:

omy- I can barely read that

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @lilbaddieeeeee not very well \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) how much do you know

snowflake0531:

-_- well, the easiest thing to remember in all the shifts is the vertical shifts Because x^2 +5, is just x^2 but moved up 5 x^2 -3, is just x^2 moved down 3

snowflake0531:

yea?

lilbaddieeeeee:

okay

snowflake0531:

So do you know how to do a and b now?

lilbaddieeeeee:

yes

snowflake0531:

Okay

snowflake0531:

and now for c and d, those are horizontal shifts

snowflake0531:

x^2 vs. (x-3)^2 is only the x^2 shift to the right 3

snowflake0531:

x^2 vs. (x+5)^2 is only the x^2 shift to the left 5

snowflake0531:

yea?

AZ:

The way I remember the horizontal shifts and it might help you remember it as well which is why I'm sharing (x + h)^2 if it's PLUS then you move to the LEFT by h units PLUS is 4 letters LEFT is 4 letters (x - h)^2 if it's MINUS then you move to the RIGHT by h units MINUS is 5 letters RIGHT is 5 letters
