0 divided 3?

AZ:

wait if the first part isn't your question then what's the instruction for this last screenshot

iuytyuioiuytyuiop:

4 divided 3 is 4/3

x = 2 the y value is 4 but 4 divided 3 is 1.3?!

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @iuytyuioiuytyuiop x = 2 the y value is 4 but 4 divided 3 is 1.3?! \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) yeah, are you able to put the dot like 1/3 of the way on the point?

iuytyuioiuytyuiop:

i cant

AZ:

make sure the instructions are the same maybe they're different for this graph

iuytyuioiuytyuiop:

im not sure the instructions seem like the uestion before

iuytyuioiuytyuiop:

az?

AZ:

OHHHH the 1/3 is inside it's not 1/3 f(x) we now have f(1/3 x)

iuytyuioiuytyuiop:

is it multiplication?

iuytyuioiuytyuiop:

im not sure

iuytyuioiuytyuiop:

i gotta complete the test hopefully before 12

iuytyuioiuytyuiop:

its practice

AZ:

okay so to find this new graph, we have to plug in different points let's say that x = 0 we plug it in f( 1/3 * 0 ) = f ( 0) what is the y-value on the blue graph when x = 0

AZ:

that's going to be the y-value when x = 0 for our red graph as well since we plugged in x =0 and got 1/3 * 0 = 0

iuytyuioiuytyuiop:

the ne y value is 0?

iuytyuioiuytyuiop:

we're not dividing 3 we're dividing 1/3?

AZ:

yeah so the first point on the red graph is (0, 0) now let's choose another nice number to work with so x = 3 f( 1/3 * 3) = f( 1) what is the y-value when x = 1 on the blue graph that is going to be the y-value WHEN \(\bf x = 3 \) on our red graph

AZ:

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @iuytyuioiuytyuiop we're not dividing 3 we're dividing 1/3? \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) no multiplying by 1/3 is the same as dividing by 3 1 * 1/3 = 1 times 1/3 which is equal to 1 / 3 which is 1 divided by 3 does that make sense?
