Astro:

Is (3,-1) a solution to y = -7/5x + 4

Astro:

@snowflake0531

AZ:

Plug it in (3, -1) is in the form of (x, y) 3 is the x value and -1 is the y-value y = -7/5 x + 4 if that point is a solution to the equation, then it should make it true

Astro:

I'm still confused @AZ

Astro:

So it would be -1=-7/5(3)+4

AZ:

replace x with 3 and y with -1 and solve it -1 = (-7/5) * 3 + 4

AZ:

yes, now just multiply it what is (-7/5) * 3 and then add 4 do you get -1? if you get -1 then you have -1 = -1 and so that point (3, -1) is indeed a solution

Astro:

It's -4.2+4=.2

Astro:

So no it wouldnt i think

AZ:

Exactly! It's not a solution because we get -1 = 0.2 and that is not a true statement

Astro:

Yay, Thank you!!
