https://prnt.sc/11jac3n What is the distance from the right center field fence to third base?

AZ:

This is very similar to your previous problem. Have they given you an angle?

iosangel:

I got 389

iosangel:

Thats all they have given me

AZ:

There's no additional information in the question stem?

iosangel:

No

AZ:

Can you show your work? How did you reach that final answer? I'm assuming that the angle doesn't change and remains 63.4 as it was in the initial question: https://prnt.sc/11932ho

iosangel:

I think Im not sure

AZ:

??? How did you get 389 then

iosangel:

I saw a similar question on brainly and used the pythagorean theorem

iosangel:

so 400=x^2+90^2

iosangel:

400^2=x^2+90^2

AZ:

If you look at the image, you'll see that it is NOT a right angle triangle so we cannot use the Pythagorean theorem Which is why we had to use the law of sines in the initial question you asked a few days ago

AZ:

We only know two sides. We could only use the law of cosines to find the angle if we knew all three sides.

Florisalreadytaken:

one question -- @iosangel , is this from the same assignemt?

iosangel:

What do you mean

iosangel:

Oh yes

AZ:

I believe we have to just assume that the angle remains the same from the home plate to the right center field but now it's a larger field

AZ:

Can you post the parts of the question that came prior to this question?

Florisalreadytaken:

what🤣

iosangel:

Yes It was actually a whole project I think Ive got somethings wrong I was supposed to find a stadium And I found this one http://www.andrewclem.com/Baseball/MileHighStadium.html Then Draw and label a figure displaying each of the following details for the major league ballpark that Ive identified Like this A triangle showing the relationship between the distance from home plate to the right center field fence, the distance from the right center field fence to third base, and the distance from third base to home plate. Label the sides of the triangle and the known distances and angle measure. • Label the length of the side that represents the distance from the right center field fence to third base x But i had to use something like this https://prnt.sc/11j9nb3

iosangel:

I've done everything right I think Except the Angle I'm not sure how to get that

AZ:

This assignment is so ridiculous

iosangel:

Yes

Florisalreadytaken:

is there nothing specified about the stadium? like nothing at all? just a random stadium?

iosangel:

Its got dimensions

iosangel:

In the bottom

AZ:

From home plate to the center field will always be 90 feet this has dimensions from the home plate to the other various places on the field http://www.andrewclem.com/Baseball/Stadium_statistics.html

AZ:

http://www.andrewclem.com/Baseball/Outfield_trigonometry.html But this assignment is ridiculous because the stadiums all have different sizes too?? And to top it off, a lot of the ones listed there don't have a curved outfield fences The closest that I could find is probably the Yankees stadium but you'll still be clueless on the angle so I guess it's just best to go with the angle that was in your original problem (angle of 63.4)

iosangel:

Ok Ill just do that
