Rx1nyDxyz:

The following table shows the data of a random sample of fish collected from and later released into a lake: Type of Fish |Piranha| Catfish| Trout Number of fish| 120 | 230 | 140 How many trout are estimated to be present if a random sample of 5,000 fish is collected from the lake? 280 380 1,400 2,500

crispyrat:

so imma try first you want to simplfy the 3 fish as a ratio can u do that?

Rx1nyDxyz:

um, you divide all the numbers by the same number, right?

crispyrat:

yes for example 10:25:50=2:5:10

Rx1nyDxyz:

ok ill try herre. I got 120:230:140: = 12:23:14. I don't think they can go any lower.

crispyrat:

yes k so now do trout : total fish

crispyrat:

then do (5000/total fish)*trout

Rx1nyDxyz:

wait, do i add up 120+230+140 or 12+23+14 for the total fish?

crispyrat:

well 12+23+14 cus u scaled down bt rember to use the scaled down version of trout as well!

crispyrat:

sorry in advance if im wrong, im not very good with ratios

Rx1nyDxyz:

let me do that real quick.

Rx1nyDxyz:

I don't understand
