Adovbush:

) A box of candy has 8 caramels and 17 nougats. If Jose randomly takes 1 piece and then another piece without replacement, what is the probability that Jose drew 1 caramel and then 1 nougat?

SmokeyBrown:

At the beginning there are a total of 25 pieces of candy. First, the chance of randomly taking a caramel would be 8/25. This also changes the box, so then it would have 7 caramel and 17 nougat for a total of 24. From there, randomly taking a nougat would have a chance of 17/24 So, the chance of both these events happening would be equal to: 8/25 * 17/24 This is true because the outcome is dependent on both events, so to find the probability of that outcome, we can multiply the probability of the individual events together.

Adovbush:

So that would be 17/75?

SmokeyBrown:

Yes, that's right! Did you use cross-multiplication to simplify the fractions? That's quite clever

Adovbush:

Lol yeah Thanks for the help
