Tyrion:

Describe how to determine the average rate of change between x = 4 and x = 6 for the function f(x) = 2x3 + 4. Include the average rate of change in your answer.

Tyrion:

@new2luv

new2luv:

give me a minute

Tyrion:

ok

new2luv:

have you learned this before

new2luv:

@az plz help

AZ:

Plug in x = 4 and x = 6 what are the two values that you get?

AZ:

Those are the y-values for those x-coordinates Average rate of change is another way to say slope So then just find the slope between those two points

AZ:

I'll throw in colors for you \(\Large\text{Slope} = \dfrac{\color{green}{y_2} - \color{orange}{y_1}}{\color{cyan}{x_2}-\color{red}{x_1}}\) where you have two points \(\Large (\color{red}{x_1}, \color{orange}{y_1})\) and \(\Large (\color{cyan}{x_2}, \color{green}{y_2})\)

new2luv:

you would have to plug them in and then multiply am I right

AZ:

Let's let Tyrion answer \( f(x) = 2x^3 + 4\) replace x with 4, what do you get? and then when you replace x with 6, what do you get?

new2luv:

@tyrion

Tyrion:

thank yall
