Do you want to learn how to multiply fractions without the diagram

AZ:

\(\dfrac{a}{b} \times \dfrac{c}{d} = \dfrac{a\times c}{b \times d}\)

AZ:

You multiply the numerators with each other and the denominators with each other

i got 0.5

AZ:

How? We have \(\dfrac{3}{8} \times \dfrac{1}{2} = ?\) We have to multiply the numerators together What is 3 * 1 = ? And then we multiply the denominators with each other What is 8 * 2 = ?

AZ:

Remember in fractions \(\dfrac{\text{numerator}}{\text{denominator}}\) the numerator is the number on top the denominator is the number on the bottom in the fraction

3*1=3 and 8*2=16

AZ:

Exactly and so remember what I wrote earlier?

So for your question We have \(\dfrac{3}{8} \times \dfrac{1}{2} = ?\) Which is equal to \(\dfrac{3\times 1}{8 \times 2} = \dfrac{??}{??}\)

uhhhhhhh so can i do it like this way 38*12=

AZ:

no

AZ:

unless you meant 3/8 * 1/2 because it's not 38 it's 3 over 8

4.56?? 😥

AZ:

No... Let's try again What is 3 * 1 = ? And what is 8 * 2 = ? |dw:1620785002199:dw|

3 and 16

AZ:

Exactly! So the way you write it is just like this |dw:1620785115348:dw|

jarvispacheco:

Lets do for example. 7/8 * 3/4 it is 21/32, because you multiply the numberators (7 and 3) which is 21, and then the denominators 8 and 4, which is 32. You could simplify it to a smaller fraction, but it is just an example.

AZ:

And what does 3/16 mean? It means if you had a pie and you cut it into 16 slices, then you would have 3 of those pieces

AZ:

Now take a look at your answer choices What's your final answer?
