Tyrion:

One factor of the function f(x) = x3 − 6x2 + 11x − 6 is (x − 3). Describe how to find the x-intercepts and the y-intercept of the graph of f(x) without using technology. Show your work and include all intercepts in your answer.

Tyrion:

@snowflake0531 i need ur helpppp

snowflake0531:

Uhhhh well, first Do you know how to factor x-3 from that using synthetic or long polynomial division?

Tyrion:

no maam

Tyrion:

let me try rq

snowflake0531:

It didn't say that you couldn't use technology to factor out -3 ;)

snowflake0531:

\[ x^3 − 6x^2 + 11x − 6 = (x-3)(x^2-3x+2)\] Can you factor x^2 -3x +2 ?

Tyrion:

yes

snowflake0531:

well what do you get

Tyrion:

(x-2)(x-1)

snowflake0531:

Yes so we have\[(x-3)(x-2)(x-1)\] from there, I think that you should be able to figure out the x intercepts

snowflake0531:

And to find the y intercept, plug in x as 0

Tyrion:

so (x−3)(x−2)(x−1) is the start of the problem??

snowflake0531:

yes that's factored form

Tyrion:

ok thnxx

snowflake0531:

yw~
