A figure is located at (2, 0), (2, −2), and (6, 0) on a coordinate plane. What kind of 3-D shape would be created if the figure was rotated around the x-axis? Provide an explanation and proof of your answer to receive full credit. Include the dimensions of the 3-D shape in your explanation.

i still dont understand

lucasp16:

Here are the points plotted out: https://www.desmos.com/calculator/cdq3d7y1hr Rotation "around the x-axis" just means to imagine that the triangle in the graph was "wrapped" around the x-axis, making a cone with the pointy end at point (0,6). The base of this cone is a circle with the diameter of 4 units and it is 4 units long from the base to the point.

oh

Florisalreadytaken:

have a look at the ss if we would rotate it around the x axis it would look something like that -- you can envision it in your mind right?

yeah its a cone

Florisalreadytaken:

yeah exactly -- do an explanation of it like i first graphed the coordinates and did this blahblahblah, and then at the end write "It will be a cone and the height of the cone is 6 and radius is 2."

okay thank youuuu <3
