surjithayer:

lines are parallel if \[\frac{ 2 }{ 1 }=\frac{ 3 }{ -2k }\] or \[k=\frac{ -3 }{ 4 }\]

crispyrat:

oh why is thatthe case? can you explain, im not very goof at parallel lines

surjithayer:

slope should be same . 3y=-2x+4k y=-2/3 x+4/3 k and 2ky=x-7 y=1/2k x-7/2k so -2/3=1/2k -4k=3 k=-3/4 or simply we write the coefficient of x of one eq./coefficient of x of eq. 2 =coefficient of y of one eq./coefficient of y of second eq.

crispyrat:

ah ok thanks so much
