how was life after civil war
and how did reform movements help citizens with that
Life for the civil war was terrible in the southern states since during the war they lost much of their plantations and slaves which were the staple of its economy while the north faired better.

Well farmers, found it hard due to the fact that there was no more slavery. and new systems of work came about to try to fill the void of slavery.
people died
Northern states prospored and south suffred for awhile and it sucked in the south for a lot of southern people
While those things mentioned above are true, I think it's also important to focus on the positive things that occurred after the Civil War. It's important to note the adding of the 13th (abolished slavery), 14th (gave equal citizenship and equal protections under the law), and 15th (voting rights were now equal for men of color and they could possibly hold office) amendments. As for the comment about it "sucked in the south" I'd like to be more specific and mention how their farm land was ruined, their economy was transitioning, etc. The Reconstruction Era (end of the war-1877) was important to try and bring the Southern states back into the Union and be a whole, united country. The relationships between people of color and white folks did change after the war. Colored people were to be treated more equal, and not as slaves. This era helped to rebuild the south.
also the things yes slavery was wrong but also the north had slaves to and the civil war was not just because of slaves it was also about the north taxing the south badly and the north also came to the south and raped the women so there was more than the slaves that started the civil war
