Unfortunately, I'm not very familiar with Transcendentalist figures of the 19th century like Emerson and Thoreau, so I don't think I'll be able to help much with writing that paragraph.
It seems that a main tenet of Transcendentalism is the responsibility to "transcend" past one's environment and move past social expectations in order to live one's best life. I'm sure there is some connection between this way of thinking and American culture, but as for how it was influenced in this way, I cannot say.
