stevemartin:

read the sentence. then changed the verb in the sentence from past tense to present tense. the orchestra played music.

mhanifa:

Played in present tence

bizaardvark:

Well first think of what past and present tense mean. If the sentence is in past tense, how would you rewrite it to sound as if it were happening currently?

mhanifa:

Played -->> plays

Extrinix:

Plays isn't present tense, "playing" is present tense.

mhanifa:

"ing" is not present tence

stevemartin:

i think playing is the right answer

bizaardvark:

It could be either, "The orchestra plays music" or "the orchestra is playing music" It could go both ways

Extrinix:

But just having it as, "The orchestra playing music." will not work, so we have to add a verb to make it make sense. So it would be, "The orchestra is playing music."

"The orchestra plays music", this wouldn't work as it describes what they do. So is playing would be more accurate.

bizaardvark:

ahhhh smartie extrinix

snowflake0531:
