tkemp25:

A satellite launch rocket had a cylindrical fuel tank.the fuel tank can hold v cubic meters of fuel.if the tank measures d meters across, what is the height of the tank in meters

SmokeyBrown:

The volume, v, of the cylinder, is equal to the area of the circular base multiplied by the height. The area of a circle, as you may know, is equal to pi * radius^2. In this problem, we are given the diameter, d, which is two times the radius. So, we can do pi * (d/2)^2 to get the area of the base. Now we have v = pi * (d/2)^2 * h, and we want to find, h, the height. So, isolating h on one side gives us h = v/(pi * (d/2)^2)) You can plug in the appropriate numbers for volume and diameter to get your answer.
