It seems like kind of a complex problem with lots of possibilities, but we can break it down with a few simple rules. Basically, we have two "variables" to keep track of: the number of apples and the number of oranges (we can call them A and O). A must be between 1 and 5, and O must be between 1 and 10. We can start with the Apples. There are 5 possible choices for the number of apples: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. And, for each of these 5 possibilities, there are 10 possible choices for the number of oranges: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. So, in total, there are 5 * 10 ways to organize the fruits into a basket, based on the rules we're given.
