What are good websites to help study for the ACT?

iosangel:

I put this in Math because its the most I need help with, science too pls

SmokeyBrown:

I'm not able to endorse any specific sites, but I think it would make sense to look for resources which are endorsed by or affiliated with the ACT. For example, the official website of the ACT organization lists various test prep resources, including some which are free: https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/the-act/test-preparation/free-act-test-prep.html

iosangel:

If you know any specific can you please pm me them

SmokeyBrown:

If I happen to find any specific sources, I don't mind listing them here. I was more saying that because of my lack of knowledge, rather than any official policy :)

SmokeyBrown:

You already mentioned you're looking for math. In terms of preparation, would you be more interested in practice problems, study guides, personal tutoring, videos... Or maybe you don't have anything specific in mind, and that's fine as well. Just trying to get a feel for what you're looking for. Also, I know some websites charge for subscriptions; how do you feel about that?

iosangel:

Yes, science and math to be exact, and yes I dont mind videos, study guides anything is fine

SmokeyBrown:

This seems like a good way to brush up on basic math concepts, especially since they claim to use questions taken directly from the ACT. The online format is different from the pencil-and-paper testing environment, and the practice tests are not full-length, but it still is a fine way to get a sense for the types of things you might expect to see on the test. They also give detailed explanations for each question after you're done, so it's a decent way to get feedback as well. Looking up "ACT test prep" on Youtube brought up a lot of promising looking videos for reviewing important math concepts and going over test-taking strategies. Here is one such example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsA7rZ8kczM I also think it would be good to practice answering practical questions as well. If possible, try timing yourself with a full-length set of questions to test your pacing and endurance in addition to your math knowledge. In fact, here is another video more specifically about test taking "skills" and "tricks" to help you (this guy's channel seems focused on ACT prep, so maybe his other videos are worth a look as well) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjFRchAp6MM

IMURDADDY4EVER:

Practice makes perfect. You need all the practice that you can get. And the best practice questions are from official ACT exams (and not some lousy practice test made by a 3rd party company such as Kaplan or The Princeton Review, etc) https://www.crackact.com/

TETSXPREME:

You could just buy the ACT workbook

That's very vague Which third party resource are you suggesting and did you find it beneficial yourself?

AZ:

As SmokeyBrown suggested, the official ACT guide is a good place to begin. It has a few official practice exams that you can do to see where you're standing at. And then you can check out that website I shared earlier for more official exams. Keep in mind that those exams were administered in the past so how you do on those exams reflects how you would do on the actual thing.

AZ:

If you need more practice, I would highly recommend 5 lb. Book of ACT Practice Problems (Manhattan Prep 5 lb) While doing practice questions and exams, if you find yourself struggling with concepts and such, KhanAcademy would be a good place to review those basic math concepts, etc.
