Ok I need some help on this. Why do children make fewer mistakes learning English than adults learning a second language? Children are immersed in the language and culture. Adults are focused on grammatical usage. Children are primarily concerned with the message not the usage. Adults apply rules from the primary language that do not apply in English.
Based on the answer choices, I think the difference between children learning English (presumably as their first language) compared to adults learning a *second* language would be that adults have knowledge of another language which may not apply to the language they are trying to learn. For the first option, adults can also be immersed in language and culture, so this is not necessarily a true difference For the second option, children can focus on grammar when learning language too For the third option, both adults and children need to concern themselves with the meaning of the language they are trying to learn What do you think the right answer might be, considering these points?
