So Q is the tip of the vector, and P is the tail subtracting Q - P gives us <-5 - (-4), 2 - (-10)> = <-1, 12> as vector PQ now, magnitude = sqrt(x^2 + y^2) where x and y are the coordinates of the vector PQ (-1,12)

wanted to redo my explanation because you're much more likely to see this formula sqrt(x^2 + y^2) instead of the other one
