I'll work out the first one and let you try the second one on your own Start w/ the mixed number 6 and 1/3. When you're converting mixed numbers to fractions: 1. multiply the denominator * the whole number 2. add this result to the numerator 3. keep the denominator I'll draw it out |dw:1630626118376:dw| so 6 and 1/3 = 19/3

now we have y + (4/5) = (19/3) subtract 4/5 from both sides to get y = (19/3) - (4/5) |dw:1630626298018:dw| now, we need to find a common denominator for 19/3 and 4/5. the least common multiple of 3 and 5 is 15. since we want both denominators to be 15 now, we multiply 19/3 * 5/5 and 4/5 * 3/3. notice how 5/5 and 3/3 are both equal to 1, so we are multiplying both numbers by 1 and thus not changing their value.

now, there's an unwritten rule in mathematics: you should try to return the same format they give you since they gave us mixed numbers, let's try and get 83/15 into a mixed number 15 goes into 83 five times (5 * 15 = 75, while 6*15 = 90 which is too much) 83 - 75 = 8 leftover so 83/15 = 5 and 8/15 = your solution let me know if any steps were unclear. I'd be happy to check your solution for the second problem if you want to try it on your own.

Thank you lol
