Astrid1:

help me <3 A technology called CRISPR allows scientists to eliminate or replace sections of an organism’s DNA. It is similar to using editing software to replace words in a paragraph. The CRISPR technology has the potential to prevent diseases that are the result of a single defective gene. Do research to find out how CRISPR works. What role might the processes involved in protein synthesis play in using CRISPR to modify a defective gene in an organism’s DNA? Do you think CRISPR and other forms of genetic engineering are helpful or harmful to humans? Then, use what you know about protein synthesis and CRISPR to reflect on these questions. Create a presentation of your ideas. Your presentation can be verbal, written, or drawn. Be sure to explain the reasoning behind your ideas. Be prepared to defend your ideas by considering a variety of different perspectives.

Astrid1:

I just need help writing it heh

Rylee88:

Do you basically need help on the definition of CRISPR?

Astrid1:

I need some help with answering the questions (:

Rylee88:

Could you tell me what exactly the question is?

Astrid1:

How does CRISPR work? What role might the processes involved in protein synthesis play in using CRISPR to modify a defective gene in an organism’s DNA? Do you think CRISPR and other forms of genetic engineering are helpful or harmful to humans?

Rylee88:

So let's answer the 1st step. How does CRISPR work?

Rylee88:

It works by being sequenced into transcribed short RNA sequences.

Astrid1:

Alrite lmao

Rylee88:

Now the second part, What role might the processes involved in protein synthesis play in using CRISPR to modify a defective gene in an organism’s DNA?

Astrid1:

Look lmao, we didn't learn anything about this and our bio teacher is expecting us to know so maybe help me out ;T

Rylee88:

The CRISPR arrays allow the bacteria to most likely remember a bacteria that had the viruses or even just related ones. If the viruse(s) attack again, the bacteria produce RNA segments from the CRISPR arrays to target the viruses' DNA. So I assume it's like where if you had the vires once before, It already remembers what it is going to do to you and your body, So it will help keep most things out.

Rylee88:

Then, the last question (Do you think CRISPR and other forms of genetic engineering are helpful or harmful to humans?) Is what YOU think so I cannot really answer that for you. Did this help?

Astrid1:

That did help thanks o;

Rylee88:

Glad I could help!
