3x+2y=18 **

MusicGeek:

ok. so -3x-6y=-30 and 3x+2y=18. the x-values eliminate each other. then you take -6 plus 2 and you will have -4y. then you have to take -30 plus 18 and you will get -12. so -4y=-12 when you divide -4 by both sides, you would get 3. so now we know that the y-value is 3. so i would take 3x+2y=18 and substitute 3 in for y. 3x+2(3)=18. that gives you 3x+6=18. subtract 6 from both sides to get 3x=12. then divide by 3 to get 4. your answer would be (3,4)
